I had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of Ricardo and Karensa in October last year and was held at the beautiful venue of Wadhurst Castle in Kent, with the ceremony previously having taken place at St Deny’s Church in Rotherfield.  A favourite time of year for me to photograph as the light can be stunning, and what with Ricardo and Karensa being such a nice laid back couple it made my job as a documentary wedding photographer all that more enjoyable!

The day started out over at Karensa’s mothers house in Crowborough where the girls were getting ready in the living room, and although tight for space it makes for great shots as all the hustle and bustle happens in one frame!  Outside was the beautiful wedding car, a Lagonda which are quite rare, but what with that being Karensa’s middle name her father went to special lengths to get one for the day.

After the ceremony in Rotherfield the traditional sweep popped out with a wide eyed black cat perching on his shoulder, which didn’t move a muscle for about an hour!  Heaven knows how he trained it to do that.  Everyone then moved on to Wadhurst Castle, a venue I hadn’t photographed at before but was more than pleasantly surprised when I saw it.  Some quick shots of the couple and some family groups, before I was able to spend my time doing what I enjoy most, documenting and capturing guests relaxing and enjoying the day.  As early evening drew in the light became a joy to shoot in  and things were rounded off perfectly with a touching first dance watched by all family and friends.
