Trying to choose an image I want to write about from the last few busy months is not easy.

I could of course choose something obvious with a sweeping landscape or setting sun, but wanted to focus on this photograph from the recent wedding of George and Victoria.

The getting ready part of a wedding day is undoubtably one of my favourite times to shoot as a documentary wedding photographer. Not only is it great to meet the bridal party and for them to get used to me being around, it’s also a perfect chance to get creative!

Playing with natural light is great fun, and when it’s working in my favour boy it’s my best friend ever. Here in this image of Victoria spraying some perfume from a bottle is an example of this.

If it was a flat overcast day, or if the sun was at the wrong height then it wouldn’t have worked. I also just happened to be in the right spot at the right time. The camera also nailed focus on the water particles which I found particularly cool.

All these “by chance” factors means it all clicks into place which makes moments like this even more special.
