Whitstable is a jewel of a place on Kent’s north coast and I urge you to pop by and visit. A charming old town yes, but with also one of the loveliest wedding venues in the south east, East Quay.
Mike and Fran chose to hold their wedding at East Quay in Whitstable for good reason, it’s one of few venues that strikes the perfect balance between character, location (it’s right on the beach!) and attentive staff.
Fran spent the morning getting ready with her friends in a lovely beach house a few minutes down the coast. The light inside was a dream to photograph in, and even as the clouds and rain rolled in later, the light around this part of the Kent coast is pretty great to shoot in.
I always say to couples on their wedding day not to fret about the weather too much. Embrace it all. Grab an umbrella and let’s go and photograph, such as I did with Mike and Fran and I like to think that the final images came out pretty good.
East Quay used to be an oyster shack I believe, the area around Whitstable is in fact famous for it’s oysters, and now it’s one of the best wedding venues in the UK.
