Being based near London I always feel blessed as a wedding photographer to be within a stones throw of so many beautiful European cities. This certainly proved to be the case when the incredibly lovely Dan and Johanna invited me out for their Barcelona wedding to photograph their day at the venue of Masia Ribas.
Barcelona Wedding Photography
The old town of Barcelona is a treasure trove of photo opportunities, and so was really glad we found some brief time the evening before the wedding to head over there for a mini shoot.
These images are always great to have in telling the story of where the wedding day is happening, and Dan and Johanna were super keen to explore some of the beautiful Gothic Quarter with me. This area is always packed with tourists so it pays to check out some of the quieter side streets when doing a photo shoot there.
Catalan Country House Wedding
Come the morning I hooked up with Dan and Johanna at the very hip Casa Bonay Hotel in the city centre, before heading off the stunning 18th century country house wedding venue of Masia Ribas in the Gavà area.
These guys did a first look before heading down the aisle together in the shade of beautiful woodland watched on by friends and family who had flown in from all corners of the globe.
With Johanna being Swedish we had a multi lingual ceremony and then plenty of fun Swedish games to play during the sunny afternoon.
Masia Ribas is an incredibly unique and historic wedding venue, being passed down through family generations, so it makes for a great setting with it’s stunning house and grounds.
In Sweden it’s traditional to have numerous speeches from close friends as well as family, and so it was great fun to witness this and to see the variety on offer (even though I wasn’t quite sure what was being said!).
A first dance in the courtyard under the festoon lights led the way to a great party into the night, and wrapping up a very special Barcelona wedding day for Dan and Johanna.
