Over the moon and chuffed to bits to have been awarded a prestigious 3rd place in the recent WPJA’s (Wedding Photojournalist Association) competition.

This group contains some of the best documentary wedding photographers from around the world, and was honoured to have been accepted a few years ago as they have very high entry requirements.  So I’m even more honoured to have been given a gold medal 3rd place award for the below image!

The photograph below was taken at the recent Kent wedding of James and Georgie.  The reception was at Georgie’s grandmothers beautiful cottage, and it was also here where the bridal preparations were in the morning.  As I wandered around the house photographing events as they were happening, I happened to open a door to find Georgie’s grandmother putting the final touches to the wedding cake she was making.  She was concentrating so heavily on what she was doing I managed to grab a couple of frames before she noticed me in the doorway, and this became one of my favourite shots of the year.  The setting, the light, the rollers, it ticked all the boxes!

You can view the competition in full here along with all the other stunning entries.
