Life in the Slow Lane
Last Summer we decided to escape from the world of emails, bleeping phones and the general rush of day to day life , and hired a 1970’s VW campervan named Boris.
A campsite in the South Downs was the destination. A back to basics place surrounded by huge meadows, ancient woodland, wild flowers and glowworms performing light shows at night.
We’ve always wanted an old VW camper, but having ZERO knowledge about mechanics meant that owning one and the time spent caring for it wouldn’t be realistic. Life slows down when you drive these things, 50mph is the max and you very quickly start to enjoy taking it easy.
It’s important in life to press the ‘reset’ button at times each year. This can be as simple as switching the phone off for the day (I challenge you to try this!) to going off on a road trip somewhere new for a while. But most importantly it’s about slowing down, taking a breath, and about creating memories.
