The Cook's | Kent Family Photography

A few months ago as the first blossom was braving an appearance, I hooked up with the Cook family for a relaxed family photo shoot in their local park near Bromley in Kent.

The morning was great fun and the kids (and parents!) behaved impeccably allowing me to make use of the fantastic light and to get some lovely moments.

Below are a handful of images that I like from that day and if a family photography session is something you've been meaning to get done then please get in touch via my contact page. Alternatively please check out my new family photography website: www.stevefullerfamilyphoto.com

Family Photographer Tunbridge Wells

Alex and Natalie commissioned me not so long ago for a family photo shoot near their home in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, with their lovely boy Finlay, and I was only too happy to oblige!  His cousin decided to photo bomb at the end too bless her!

As with all family and couple photography I get involved with it's all 100% on location, and pictures taken on location look great in all weathers.  If you are interested in having a similar portrait session with me please get in touch, meanwhile here is my no nonsense guide on what to bring:

Worried it's going to pour down? Bring a brolly.

Worried it's chilly? Bring thermals.

Worried it's too hot? Bring flip flops.

Worried it's too windy? Don't bring a hat.

Thats about it!  Basically what I'm trying to say is that these photography sessions are so informal there are no rules, it's just about having fun and this brings out the very best in people and in turn the end photos.

I now have a dedicated Family Photography website which you can see here, go check it out!  www.stevefullerfamilyphoto.com

A Kent Panto | Beauty and the Beast

As a Kent wedding photographer it's always nice to have other photography projects on the go too, and as well as lifestyle family photo shoots, I also get involved in providing the official pictures for the annual Southborough Pantomime.

It's run by the great Wicked Productions (who I can't recommend enough) and this year it was a production of Beauty and the Beast.  These guys work their socks off every year, starting in late summer auditioning and set building, all the way through to the very last show, and give 110% into everything they do.  If you haven't been to see them yet you're missing out!   Shameless plug alert, but as well as the high end production and acting, the choreography provided by my lovely wife Carla was yet again top notch, and she runs a great dance school for children and adults in Tunbridge Wells called Firefly.  Check it out here.

I always love photographing the dress rehearsals and below are some of my favourite images.  If you or your children were involved in this great Kent production the full set of images can be viewed in a password protected  gallery, please contact Carla for the password if you'd like to view or purchase any prints.

If you haven't done so yet a 'like' of my Facebook page is always lovely to have and a comment in the box below to let me know what you think is equally awesome!

An Autumnal Family Photo Shoot

Mid afternoon on a crisp December day in Tunbridge Wells, with late Autumn colours hanging on in there, all meant a perfect time to book in a family lifestyle photography shoot with the beautiful Bartley family.

By lifestyle I mean, relaxed natural photos in the great outdoors.   No white backdrops here.  Fresh air and natural light is always so much better.  For one kids are immediately at home in it, the weather does't matter to them, it could be chucking it down but with wellies and brollies they still love it!  When the kids are relaxed and having fun, the parents are relaxed and having fun, they both go hand in hand and this all means good photos are to be had.

Some favourite images of mine are below.  Any comments here or on social media are always welcome.

If you would be interested in having a similar family photography session please contact me for more info and price, or alternatively visit my dedicated family photography website: stevefullerphoto.com

Firefly Dance School

As the wedding season quietens down I'm always on the lookout for other projects, so was fortunate recently to be able to photograph at the awesome Firefly Dance School which is owned and run by my lovely wife Carla.

I've seen her build this Tunbridge Wells based dance school up from scratch and so am obviously very proud to see it doing so well.  She provides a mind boggling array of classes covering different genres of dance, as well as providing some top class cupcakes that makes Paul Hollywood's ones look like something from Gregs.

The children were all great to work with when I was there and didn't laugh at me too much which was a bonus!  Thanks kids!  If you are a parent then you can access the galleries via the 'client area' tab at the top of this page.  You will need a password to view them and this is being supplied by Carla.

If you like the pictures I always appreciate feedback which you can leave at the bottom of this page, and a 'like' of my Facebook photography page would be very kind too!

If you are looking to send your children to a friendly and professional Kent dance school then please check out Firefly Dance School's website here.

The Look | Why I Love this Picture

I have been meaning to start a regular post about images that for one reason or another make me pause.

This could be during the fleeting seconds after I've taken and reviewed the shot, during the editing process, or even sometime later when going back over previous weddings.  It doesn't necessarily need to be a picture that is technically perfect, or one that is a drop dead crowd pleaser.

It's what I love about photography.  There is such a vast array of talented wedding photographers out there, and not a single one is the same in the way they shoot.  Some will love their work, others won't and thats just how it is.  It's a bit like Strictly, it's either a must watch or time to do some photo editing :)

The image below is from the very recent Kent wedding of Benjy and Hannah (full blog of which is here).  It was a great day and there were plenty of pictures from it I could write about, but this one is one of them that made me pause and smile.

A wedding day is such a huge occasion for the father of the bride.  It's one of those days that as a father you have the honour and pride of being able to walk your girl down the aisle.  It's emotional.  I have two young daughters myself and know I will be a blubbering mess when that day arrives for me.

Although Hannah's father is partially obscured, I kind of like that in a way as it's capturing a brief hidden moment where is looking at her and bursting with quiet pride.   I remember that straight after this frame was taken my view of him became obscured so that single frame then became even more special.

As ever thoughts on this below or on social media are always great to hear.

Treasure Island

As a Kent photographer I love taking pictures, and when I'm not covering a wedding I always like to have other projects on the go.

If you are a regular reader of this blog (and thankyou if you are!) then you will know back at Christmas time I photographed the fantastic production of Rapunzel at the Royal Victoria Hall in Southborough, which was produced by the excellent Wicked Productions.   Well they're back during this Easter half term with a production of Treasure Island at the the same theatre, and I was lucky enough to watch the opening show last night (as well as photographing the rehearsals).  All I can say is that it's awesome and belly achingly funny!  Just make sure you get your tickets quick as it's on for a limited run! You can find details of how to get tickets here.

Below are some of my favourites, but if you'd like to view the full set please go to the online gallery where there is an option to purchase prints should you wish.  Enjoy!

Mind the Gap

My daughter lost her first tooth today, overcome with excitement would be an understatement!

JUMP!

A trampoline is one of the best things you can buy for the garden (well apart from a hot tub maybe).   Yes it kills off all the grass underneath that I lovingly planted and cared for, but the fun factor cannot be denied!
